The Roman God, Neptune, is believed to have supreme command of the seas and stands for the possession of unfathomable power and sense of institution. He symbolizes the sea of unlimited energy – and in his footsteps was this house founded, which is an ideal combination of power and humility.
In Neptune, each individual is believed to possess some special ability, which if harnessed in the correct manner, can provide productive results. It is due to this unique quality that the long list of performers of this house becomes the highlight of every inter-house activity. The evergreen (pun intended) success of the house is a result of the hard work of some excellent teachers, B.K. Cheema, Suman Pathak, Seema Khatri, to name a few.
The foundation of our house lies in the simplest entities of peace and unity. Like the cool, deep and ever-flowing sea, the Neptunians maintain a serene and peaceful relation with everyone. Bearing the colour green, they follow the simple motto of “Victorious in defeat, Humble in Victory”.
The house of Mars derives its colour and temperament from the Red Planet. Both are named after the Roman god of war, who was interestingly also the the agricultural guardian! This highlights the underlying aggression tempered with a nourishing soul that is characteristic to all Martians.
Mars house treasures the abilities of each student and goes the extra mile to ensure their holistic development. The Martians are known to be particularly talented, a fact which is evident every year at the House Shows. The house is ably led by teachers like Mrs. Renu Maria, Mrs. Preeti Bhatia and Mrs. Anju Kaushik, from a long list.
While the roots of this house may lay in aggression, the Martians at St. Stephen’s have moulded this trait into fierce ambition and it is this desire to excel that ensures them continued success.
Saturn House takes inspiration from the Roman God of agriculture, justice and strength. It borrows the colour yellow from the former and the latter are the defining traits of the members of this great house. Just like the god’s fabled reign of peace and abundance, this house ensures prosperity at St. Stephen’s.
Some of the most gifted individuals to have passed the portals of the school have come from Saturn House, and this speaks immensely of their potential and their abilities to harness the same. Their famous Hindi drama, ably directed by Mrs. Rosy Bhutani, at the House Shows is arguably the most awaited performance every year. Other teachers to have made significant contributions are Mrs. V.B. Sharma , Mrs Vasudeva and Mrs. Manjit Kaur
The spirited exhibition of their talent establishes the supremacy of Saturn House at St. Stephen’s. Their success continues to unfold and inspire the students and alumni alike.
Be it the largest planet of our solar system or the chief of Roman Gods himself, Jupiter has always signified greatness, and in St.Stephen’s the house of Jupiter not only lives up to that image but extends it. Adorning the colour blue, members of the Jupiter house leave no stone unturned to fulfil their great legacy.
This show of raw power is exhibited in every performance and especially their excellence in sport. The students of Jupiter house are led by some of the best teachers like Mrs. Vandana, Mr. Vikram and Mrs. Randhawa. The house also features children from the divine class, who inspire hope amongst all. Jupiter house, has exemplified success time and again and is a credit to the school.
